Nintendo NX (Sort Of) Detailed
By all accounts, the Nintendo NX is...weird. From its first announcement in the weeks before E3 with a definite street date of March 2017 that was then pushed back, to not showing off any information about it at E3 (only the largest video game convention in the world), to the latest news coming from EuroGamer, the NX sure seems to be a massive gamble on Nintendo's part.
EuroGamer reported yesterday that the Nintendo NX will be a portable, hand-held console with detatchable controllers. The NX will function as "a high-powered hand held console with its own display". EuroGamer also reports that the screen will be "bookended by two controller sections...which can be attached or detached as required."
The NX will also be able to connect to your TV at home for gaming on the big screen, according to the report via a base unit or docking station.
The NX will also reportedly use cartridges as its phsyical media, instead of Discs like the last two major Nintendo consoles have done.
Nintendo's latest console is also rumored to be less-powerful than current generation offerings which has us here at Senshudo puzzled. What is Nintendo aiming for here? Are they trying to take another huge gamble a la the original Nintendo Wii in the hopes that it will take off and revitalize their much maligned company? Only time will tell but for now, the one word to describe what we're seeing and hearing remains "weird".
We'll have the latest on the NX for you as we get it.
