Gaming services being shut down by group targeting Twitch User

By Stewart Marsh

The Twitch streamer by the name of Phantoml0rd is under attack by a group calling itself DERP. This group is attacking game servers being utilized for Phantoml0rd's game stream.

The group has performed a wide range of DDoS attacks against games and services like Dota 2, League of Legends, Club Penguin, Battle.net and EA.com.

Phantoml0rd believes he was randomly targeted as he was one of the top streamers at the time on Twitch. The group told Phantoml0rd over Twitter that if he lost the Dota 2 match he was streaming, they would crash the game’s server; just as his team took a turn for the worst, the server he was playing on crashed.

Because of this attack, these online game servers are experiencing periodic outages and other problems. Some of these servers have yet to recover.

Update: Since posting this article the police have since been called to Phantoml0rd's location, there’s no clear indication if this was done by the group calling itself DERP or by someone else.
