EA Is Making An Assassin's Creed-Style Action Game

By Elisabeth Elvestad

Earlier this year it was announced that producer Jade Raymond left Ubisoft and joined EA, and she was tasked to lead a brand new studio called Motive in Montreal. Very little is currently known about the projects they are working on, but we are led to believe that the studio will explore what is currently uncharted territory for EA when it comes to the action genre.

Jade Raymond brings with her a lot of experience from the Assassin's Creed franchise so she is indeed a perfect candidate to lead development on a similar action-styled project, and now EA has confirmed that this is the plan for Motive.

We've never really operated in the largest genre of gaming, and that's the action genre. That's the Assassin's Creed-style games; more open-world, more single-play versus multiplayer. It's not been an area that we've operated in. We recently hired Jade Raymond, who was behind the Assassin's Creed franchise for Ubisoft and she will be building an action genre for us through a studio we're building out in Montreal right now. So a lot of excitement around the action genre.

Blake Jorgensen, EA CFO.

According to previous announcements, the Motive team is working on both Visceral Games new Star Wars game and something brand new. EA COO Peter Moore has previously said that Raymond is "going to help us build new IP." A quick peak on the Motive Studios webpage tells us that Raymond, in her new role, is "excited to bring new ideas to life."
